Aubrey Beardsley
Aubrey Beardsley

(left) ‘Fashion Hash à la Galliano’

my first exhibited illustration which featured
(alongside works by noted cartoonists such as
Ralph Steadman, Dave Brown & Steve Bell)
in ‘Shock!’, an Aubrey Beardsley centenary
tribute show, with the theme of fin-de-siècle
decadence (!) held in Brighton, June 1998

(A3 indian ink, 1997)

(right) Aubrey Beardsley

Beardsley’s Art Nouveau illustration
style was such a key influence on my
own black-and-white work that I just
couldn’t resist trying this stylized caricature

(ink / digital, 2012)
